I am retired after working for nearly 30 years as a bus driver married with one stepson and one step grandson.

I became interested in radio in the early 1980s with the explosion of CB and passed my foundation licence in 2005 my intermediate in March 2018 and my full in November 2020.

I prefer Icom radios for HF I have had Yaesu radios in the past but the full SDR of the IC7300 and IC7610 (i have had both) are superior to me and seem far easier to use with easier menu structures but this is purely a personal opinion.

My main interest is HF SSB I used to operate some FT8 but not anymore since I find SSB far more interesting and challenging and much prefer to talk to people on the radio. I do not do much contesting but have entered some every now and again.

I am a founder member of the Gilmore Radio Club a brand new club in the Northwest of England formed November 2021 for more details go to https://m0juw.co.uk/
