Join in our next CW Fun Day, on Sunday 27th April 2025 – open to all morse code operators; members and non-members alike.
The CW Fun Day is about enjoying CW with friendly operators in a relaxed non-contest way, with simple short QSOs on different bands throughout the day; beginners or more experienced are welcome.
Exchanges can range from just callsigns, names and reports, to also include locations and a short chat for the more experienced. There are no logins – just short friendly QSOs.
Each CW net lasts up to an hour, with ten separate nets on different bands through the day. We hope there are some to suit you. CW net speeds will be about 18wpm; but we will slow to match. Controllers are club members and guests.
We start at 10am on 40m, so controller will start on 7024 KHz. If freq is busy or QRM, controller will move up 0.5 to 7024.50 until 7024 is free.
All our net controllers will call CQ or CQ NET followed by their callsigns. To reply to any net, either send your callsign once followed by K, or send CONTROLLER CALLSIGN DE YOUR CALLSIGN followed by K.
Please note that the net controllers callsign may be changed at short notice, so please listen carefully for the controller callsign.
If there are several other callsigns sent at the same time as you send, please bear with us and the controller will try to ensure as many as possible have a QSO in turn. For this reason, we ask that QSOs can be kept relatively short for a busy net, to about 6 mins per call.
We recommend you use Reverse Beacon Network, RBN, and/or the app Ham Alert, to check on exact net frequency. We look forward to hearing your call.
