CW Fun Day 25 April 2026

Join our next CW Fun Day, Saturday 25^th April 2026 – for morse code fun; beginners or experienced; members or non-members.  

The CW Fun Day is about enjoying CW with friendly operators in a relaxed non-contest way. There are no logins – just short QSOs, regular or rag chew, on different bands through the day. Nets start every hour from 10am to 7pm; we hope some suit you.

To answer a CQ call, send your callsign once. The controller will then have a short friendly QSO with you. Exchanges can range from callsigns, names and reports, to also include locations and a short chat for the more experienced. If the controller replies to another callsign rather than you, please consider trying again after the next CQ call.

CW net speeds are about 18wpm – controllers can adjust to suit, and will slow to match. The Slow Speed CW nets are about 12wpm.

Each net controller will call CQ or CQ NET followed by their callsign. To reply to any net, just send your callsign once. If there are several callsigns sent at the same time, the controller will try to ensure as many as possible have a QSO in turn, so please be patient and call again after the next CQ. We ask that QSOs can be kept relatively short for a busy net, to about 6 mins.

We start at 10am on 40m, so controller will start on 7024 KHz. If freq is busy or has QRN/QRM, controller will move up 0.5 to 7024.50 until 7024 is free.

You can check Reverse Beacon Network (RBN) and/or Ham Alert, for expected callsigns.  However, please note a net controllers callsign may be changed at short notice, so listen carefully for the callsign.
